Puppy prep

Potty training basics.

A simple first-week structure for helping an Australian Labradoodle puppy settle into a reliable potty routine.

Start with rhythm

Puppies learn fastest when the routine is predictable. Take your puppy out after waking, after eating, after play, before crate time, and anytime they start sniffing or circling.

Keep the first week simple

Use one potty area, calm praise, and close supervision indoors. When you cannot watch closely, use a crate or small safe pen so the puppy does not practice wandering off and making mistakes.

Expect normal accidents

Accidents do not mean the puppy is stubborn. They usually mean the timing, freedom, or supervision needs to be tightened. Clean accidents thoroughly and reset the routine without scolding.
