Guardian Home Program

A family home for every parent dog.

Our parent dogs don't live in a kennel. They live in homes, with families, as pets. The Guardian Home Program is how we keep it that way — and how we welcome Kansas City families into our breeding program without ever asking them to be a kennel.

How it works.

A guardian home is a carefully matched family who raises one of our breeding parent dogs as their pet. She lives with you full-time, sleeps on your couch, plays with your kids. We retain breeding rights for a defined number of litters; she comes to us only for breeding visits and to whelp her puppies in our home. When her breeding career ends, she's already where she belongs — with you.

Most of our breeding parents come from guardian families. It's the only way we can stay a small, home-based program while giving every parent dog the life they deserve.

We brought home our little guy last week and I can't say enough amazing things about Blessed Day Doodles. He is amazing with our kids and is learning everything so quickly.

Our guardian families

The families who make this possible.

Every breeding parent in our program lives with one of these families. They are how we keep our home a home, not a kennel.

Jennifer with Fozzie, a Blessed Day Doodles guardian-home parent dog

Jennifer M. & Fozzie

Being a guardian mom for Blessed Day Doodles has been a wonderful experience. They are incredibly easy to work with, always flexible and organized when it comes to pick-ups, and they provide timely updates. The best part is my Fozzie baby!

Barbara with Leroy, a Blessed Day Doodles guardian-home parent dog

Barbara N. & Leroy

We are guardian parents for Blessed Day Doodles. Working with Kyle and Tera is not only super easy, it is a pleasure. The Mueller's are personable, professional, timely with dates/pick ups and easy to work with. Our Leroy greets Kyle and Tera with so much joy and happiness — he knows they are a part of his family. Working with Blessed Day Doodles has been one of our best decisions.

The Sola family with Hope, a Blessed Day Doodles guardian-home parent dog

The Sola Family & Hope

Becoming a guardian home for Hope has been one of the most rewarding decisions our family has made. We originally fell in love with Blessed Day Doodles when Coco joined our family, so when Tera reached out and asked if we'd consider guardianship for Hope, it felt like the perfect fit. Our role was simply to give Hope a loving, stable home — caring for her like any other family dog. What means the most is knowing we're connected with breeders who genuinely love their dogs.

Common questions

What guardian families want to know.

What is a guardian home?
A guardian home is a hand-picked family who keeps one of our breeding parent dogs as their pet. The dog lives with you full-time. We retain breeding rights for a defined period; she comes to us only for breeding visits and to whelp her litters in our home. When her breeding career ends, she stays with you permanently — which was the plan from day one.
What does Tera cover?
We cover all health testing, all veterinary costs related to breeding, food and supplements during pregnancy and nursing, and the breeding-related visits themselves. We provide ongoing guidance — feeding, training, health questions — for the life of the dog.
What do you ask of guardian families?
Routine vet care, quality food, basic obedience, and treating her like a family dog (because she is one). We ask that you bring her to us for breeding visits when she's in heat — usually one or two visits a year — and for whelping when a litter is due.
Who's a fit?
Families within driving distance of Harrisonville, MO who can flex around breeding visits. A fenced yard helps. A flexible schedule matters more than home size. We want families who will love her like she's their own — because she is.
How does the placement work?
We start with a conversation — your lifestyle, your home, the kind of dog who would fit. If a guardian-eligible puppy is right for your family, we move forward. The contract spells out who covers what, the breeding schedule, and the transition timeline.

Think this might be a fit?

Apply with a few details about your home, your family, and your schedule. Tera reviews every guardian application personally and will reach out for a real conversation if it looks like a match.
